Give it a good cleaning so there isn’t any dust or gunk on it to keep the paint from sticking. Rust-O-leum spray enamel paint works really well and holds up. Even though it’s a bed and will be inside, paint for outside use is extra durable to be weather resistant.
Spray paint gives you a smoother overall coat, but you will find that it won’t get EVERYWHERE, so you may have to get the tiny crevises with a brush. You get a cleaner result if you do the brush work first, then spray.
I’m thinking about getting a wood or iron bed for my new room. for the wood, i can find lots of separate bedroom pieces (chest, night stand, dresser, etc) that will match the wood bed. but I’m not sure what pieces would match an iron bed… any suggestions? thank you!
I have been doing the sanding with coarse to fine steel wool. It seems fairly smooth. Question is how do I “polish/buff” to make sure all of the small grit is off before I paint? Using a “rustoleum” oil based, do I need to fine sand between coats? Any other hints would be appreciated, email me at sajaru316@yahoo.com thanks
I have an old Depression-era iron bed that I would like to paint, and will need to use a primer after sanding the surface. However, what is the best paint to use? I will consider both Spray-on and brush paint. Thanks!
The paint is pretty thick and It is an Iron bed, We need to paint it though.
Thank-you
My niece is coming to live with me, and I’m designing her bedroom. She loves old and antique things. Anything before the sixties, she finds extremely cool. What sort of things could be used to style her room?
Also, if there are any small accessory-type things, such as a suitcase or something, that would be helpful as well. Oh, she also said something about a white iron bed?
I have a Wesley Allen complete bed in queen size that I’ve assembled but I haven’t put a box spring or mattress on it yet because I don’t know what to do with the washers that came with the rest of the parts. It’s an iron bed with no wood anywhere in the design. Where should I use the washers? I’m looking for anyone who has assembled a Wesley Allen complete bed or who works for Wesley Allen or any store that has sold Wesley Allen and who might be able to provide some insight as to how to use these washers. Thanks.
